ALORAN, a perspective
PASTIME-SPORTS

Basketball

Couple of weeks in September, before the Town Fiesta on the 21st, a Basketball Liga is held.
Teams from different baranggays sweat for their money and thropy.

Early on, not all Teams wear uniform.
Some wear flip-flops/tsinilas or even barefooted.
However, in late, Teams vye who has the best uniform.

Brigt-colored jerseys with the name of the Team, favourite number and their last name are embossed.

Nike, Adidas, Reebok, and maybe a dozen others.
No one plays on tsinilas nor bare-footed.

Volleybal

Is another sports still popular with both adults and young adults.
However, the other volleyball you don't see anymore played is the Rural Aloran version.

Played with a rattan ball, 'holding'is legal, rules are fluid.

In the 1980s, Aloran was the favourite hangout for players and fans, local and out-of-town.

There was a long list of good players those days.

Sepak Takraw

It's only in recent years that this game became popular in Aloran, and in the country for that matter.

Some ten years back, I was watching Sepak Takraw matches right at the municipal plaza.
I find the game quite interesting.
I learned that under Coach Vivien Dumalagan (God rest his soul), Aloran Team won a National Championship, not too long ago.
