A LIFE WELL-LIVED...

THE GAMES WE CHILDREN PLAY
The Chanel Swim!

The rhyme, "Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day", was to us, pre-graders, "Rain, rain, come our way, any day".
Acid rain was never heard-of. It was pure, clean water, that we even open our mouth wide, face up to the sky, for the sweet taste of its every drop.

Our street canals were deep and wide, and when it pours, water is high and current is quite strong for down-stream swim.
At the corner of our street, the flow bends 90 degrees towards the creek.
A culvert is placed to connect our side of the canal to the other.

And the fun begins!

We start our swim two blocks up-stream, then get to the most exciting part, the swim through the tube/culvert (imbornal, to us), down another two blocks - because beyond that point, continuing was dangerous.
And it doesn't end there.
As long as the water flow in the canal warrants a swim, the fun continues!
