COLLEGE Cebu, the Queen City of the south! |

If Colon Street was a river, Juan Luna, Sanciangko, Magallanes, Plaridel, and ahhh, Junquere were the tributaries. At the corner of Juan Luna and Plaridel Streets, stands the tallest building in the city. The Diamond Tower, and at its top-most floor was a revolving restaurant - and how cool could that be? As a "promde" (a slang for "coming from the province - as opposed to a city), I've never been to the "center of social/commercial gravity", until that time. On the second floor was Fancy's, a department store worthy of its name Having graduated valedictorian from high school, I was enrolled at CIT, EE-1 (Electrical Engineering) as a Sen Gerry Roxas Educational Foundation scholar. Tuition fee was taken-cared of by the benefactor, plus a modest allowance for sundry. With my allowance, I was able to buy my first and only Golden Award polo shirt and a pair of brown suede shoes. From where?, of course from Fancy's, where I also had my first escalator ride. Maintaining the grades required to stay on track was hard but with diligence, I was able to, despite our Chemistry instructor who wasn't student-friendly, to say the least. |
