COLLEGE College, here I come! |

A friend who was in his junior year at CIT brought me to his boarding house - 415F Fatima Street, Cebu City. The back portion of the Mascarinas Residence was three level, and at that time, the third was occupied by ten Aloranons. During my first year, I was in a room with two guys from Nasipit, Agusan and Fred Hermosa, from Hilongos, Leyte, a senior CE at CIT. A down-to-earth guy, he taught me how to use the slide rule (the term "calculator" was un-heard of yet), and in many occasions, lent it to me to hone my skills. He wasn't the only one that extended his helping hands. One handed me down his engineering books - and they were not cheap. And who would forget the ladies from the Zamboangas and Mis Or? They were our "bulogasan" during rainy days. "You know Ma, money in the city turns like winds", a phrase coined by Elizer (Eling) Castillo, the guy who brought me to the boarding house. |
